Rice flour, urad dhal, bengal gram, cow butter, red chilli, curry leaves, sesame seeds, asafoetida, salt
Thattai is a uniquely south Indian snack that is not very well-known north of the Vindyas. Using a base of traditional rice flour, Girija Paati’s SPICY thattai is a complete meal on its own, with proteins from bengal gram & channa dhal, protective vitamins from the curry leaves and a taste punch from the red chillies, all of which are balanced out by the digestive powers of asafoetida.
Grab a few thattais as you run out the door to munch on, have it with a glass of chai on a rainy evening, use it to make thattai sandwiches with chutney and vegetables, the options are endless.
