Fresh Roasted Coconut, Protein-Rich Urad Dhal, Tangy Tamarind, Spicy Red Chilli, Soothing Asafoetida, Rock Salt, A Hint of Curry Leaf
Tangy, medium spicy and with a hint of the natural sweetness of coconut, this podi has an extremely distinctive flavour that can be addictive. A quick and absolutely delicious option for rice lovers on the days when there's not much time to cook.
Thengai Podi is typically added to rice after it has been flavoured with a splash of til (sesame/gingelly) oil or a dollop of ghee. For a stronger flavour it can be added directly to hot rice with no oil or ghee.
With the simple addition of a poriyal (stir fried green vegetable) and sutta applam (roasted papad) you can dish up a flavour-filled, nutritious meal on a busy day.
